A Message to Families from the Superintendent: Safe Schools for All Students and Families

Posted Date: 6/09/25 (10:45 PM)

Dear Mountain View School District Families,

As our schools prepare for this week’s student promotion ceremonies, we are also mindful of recent news reports regarding immigration enforcement activity in Los Angeles County. We understand that this may create worry or uncertainty for some members of our community, and we want to offer reassurance and clear information during this time.

Mountain View School District remains fully committed to the safety, dignity, and privacy of all students and families, regardless of immigration status. Our District policies and procedures are aligned with California State Law AB 699—the Safe Schools for Immigrant Students Act—and we want our community to know the following:

  • We do not collect or share information about the immigration status of students or their families.

  • We do not allow immigration enforcement agents on any campus without a lawfully issued court order and prior approval from the Superintendent or legal counsel.

  • Our staff have been trained to refer all such inquiries directly to the school administrator or designated District responder and not to provide any information without proper legal clearance.

We also remain devoted to our Board’s Resolution, which is committed to the Education of All Children and Making All Campuses a Safe Zone for Students and Families Threatened by Immigration Enforcement.

To support our families, the District has already launched our Immigration & Family Resources webpage, which offers know-your-rights materials, emergency planning tools, and community support resources. We encourage families to visit:

Our counselors and mental health staff are available to provide compassionate support for any student who needs it. In addition, there are resources available for families, or staff experiencing stress or concern during this time.

Mountain View School District is proud to serve an incredibly diverse and resilient community. We believe in the power of unity, compassion, and respect, and we remain steadfast in ensuring that our schools continue to be safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for everyone.

Thank you for your partnership and trust as we celebrate the achievements of our students and support one another through all challenges.

With care and solidarity,

 Raymond Andry, Ed.D.
 Superintendent
