Message from the Principal

Portrait of Dr. Aileen J. La Corte, Principal

Welcome to the 2025-26 School Year!  We hope that you all had a wonderful summer. The Payne Staff is excited to get the new year 2025-2026 started to serve you all.

Based on our district's commitment to Capturing Kids' Hearts (CPK), Payne Elementary School’s child-centered environment focuses on providing a positive, supportive climate that enables students to develop social interaction skills, foster personal responsibility, and become successful and contributing members of a global society.

We have established a Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program from grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our community strongly believes in the importance of having a multilingual student body as future contributors to society who can view the world through multiple lenses.

Additionally, one of the Mountain View School District's Newcomers' classes is a part of Payne School. The class includes students who have newly arrived in the United States from countries that include, but are not limited to, Mexico, Guatemala, China, Vietnam, and other countries.

Looking forward to an amazing school year of building and growing together!

Dr. Aileen La Corte,
Principal

  • Here are a few tips to help your child achieve their full potential:

    • Establish a consistent homework routine: Designate a quiet, well-lit space for homework and set a regular time for its completion.
    • Encourage reading: Read with your child daily, even for just 15-20 minutes. This helps develop vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of reading.
    • Limit screen time: Set reasonable limits on television, video games, and other electronic devices, especially during study time.
    • Celebrate effort and progress: Focus on your child's hard work and improvement, rather than just grades.
    • Ensure adequate sleep and nutrition: A well-rested and nourished child is better able to focus and learn.
    • Communicate with the teacher: Use ParentSquare to stay in regular contact with your child's teacher to discuss their progress, address any concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support their learning.
  • ParentSquare
All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications.

ParentSquare automatically syncs with our student information system to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

ParentSquare is a safe, secure, and modern approach to communication and collaboration between school and home. Learn more and get started today by viewing our ParentSquare web page.
